This low budget but cleverly crafted Canadian horror project is a fascinating and exciting blend that blends steam like romance with suffocating vampire damage. Silvio Oliviero plays a quirky character in the drama, playing Stephen, a New York taxi driver who happens to be a 350 year old vampire. Cute music video director Michelle (played by Helen Papas) has fallen into his hands. She is a terminally ill woman seeking a passionate one night stand. Stephen bit her and claimed that she was his immortal bride, which made her jealous husband very frustrated. He planned to destroy her immortal lover. Director Gerard Chicoriti adopted the conventions of modern vampires (especially some shocking bloody effects) to achieve delightful effects, but it is the comprehensive characters in this film that sets it apart from standard direct video exploitation films. Unfortunately, relying too heavily on outdated MTV style window decorations prevents it from achieving true fanatical classic status.
