He even lost one eye on the road! The madman he interacts with is portrayed by a series of stunning character actors and admirers, including Lynch's favorite Jack Nance (Thor's Head), Susan Tyrell (Lesh and Blood), Mary Voronov (Artie Raoul), Michael J. Pollard (Bonnie and Clyde), John Deere (trips), Dick Miller (A Bucket of Blood), Robert Picardo (Cyberspace), Flea, Metlov, and teenage Drew Barrymore (beware of dirty fans - a teenage Drew Barrymore before his breasts shrink!). This movie is easily overlooked on the video shelf, especially its misleading nature; Meeting Selma and Louise at home alone; Packaging - but it's really worth a look. Fans of quirky road movies like "Wild Heart," "Highway 61," or "Roadside Prophet" should enjoy this quietly subversive dark fantasy, which in my opinion is one of the most unfairly overlooked movies of the past decade or so.
